smooth subpleural ground glass opacities more in lower lobes associated with centriacinar emphysema more in upper lobes. there is no evidence of honey combing.

Interstitial DDX of subpleaural ground glass opacities are DIP, NSIP, UIP. according to appearance of ground glass opacities and other accompanying finding, diagnosis is possible. smooth ground glass opacities indicate DIP. coarse ground glass opacities indicate fibrotic NSIP and UIP. subpleural sparing indicates NSIP. honey combing indicates UIP and NSIP. centriacinar emphysema indicates DIP.
